We were showcasing our bike in the UAE, and the feedback was incredible. Locals were impressed, we needed some tweaks and updates, but in general, showcasing a bike to high-profile people was a huge step already. But in the middle of it all, I decided to explore Masdar City. At the time, I had no idea what that visit would come to mean for me.
Masdar was still mostly empty in 2019. Few people, quiet streets, but the progress was there. It was futuristic. Visionary. Clean. It felt like a sci-fi movie slowly coming to life. I was proud to be there and to see it at that stage. To walk those streets, full of ideas, without realizing I’d soon be walking them as a resident.
I was only 22 years old, around 108kg (yep, I almost did not recognize myself in that photo while scrolling through the album), full of excitement and fear. That kid in the picture had no clue that a few months later, he’d be leaving everything behind. Moving from a small county in Croatia to a massive, highly developed hub in the Middle East.
Was I scared? Of course. Was I ready? Maybe not fully. But I couldn’t wait to start. Something about Masdar made it feel like anything was possible.
And a quick side note - thank you to more than 400 newsletter subscribers, and the unbelievable 12000+ people the last post reached. It means so much to see so many of you following this journey.
