Not long after we moved into the new office, I went on a short desert adventure with the new crew. Classic welcome-to-the-UAE trip. Sand, laughs, good energy.
Until we drove into the actual desert… with our regular Toyota. A few minutes in and we were completely stuck.
The sun started going down. And I started picturing how we’d be spending the night there. In the car, with no signal.
And then, out of nowhere a local guy shows up in full safari mode, driving a dune-modified Toyota.
He didn't know a word of English. We had no idea about Arabic. But we didn’t need words.
He took one look, hooked up a rope, and pulled us out like it was nothing.
Moral of the story? Don’t underestimate the desert. And don’t mess with a local in a 4x4.
