When I first had a meeting at G42 in 2019 I said that data is the new oil, and that it will be everything...
In 2022, iotaap became our main focus. I had a vision: to build a marketplace of IoT data, where anonymized sensor data could be traded between private companies, governments, and institutions.
If you had a sensor, you could sell the data. Noise levels in a city, temperature fluctuations in a power plant, air quality trends… anonymized, structured, and valuable.
We started extending iotaap to support this. I spent nights and days writing docs, testing, fixing, shipping, failing, and doing it all over again. I really believed in it, and the market confirmed my thoughts. After the MVP (minimum viable product), our local partners didn’t believe it would ever work.
I started questioning myself, my vision, my gut. I followed their opinion too much. And of course, today, there are five platforms doing exactly that, valued in millions. That one hurt. But it taught me something: Trust your vision. If it makes sense to you, build it. Even if no one claps at first.
